School History
San Jose Colleges (SJC) started as a dream from across the seas by the Avecilla family, led by Dr. Alfonso G. Avecilla and Mrs. Angeles M. Avecilla, and prominent members of the Maglaya, Mangasers, Unicianos and other families. With their vision of love and service to the young people of the Philippines, whose educational pursuit had either been cut or stifled by the Japanese occupation, the families banded together to establish an academic institution called San Jose Colleges in the former Municipality of San Jose (now San Jose City) in the province of Nueva Ecija.
The inaugural school year took place in 1946-1947. The school was originally housed in a rented two-storey building along Sto. Domingo Street. As enrollment increased, a three-storey semi-permanent school building was constructed across the street from the original location. In the early sixties, a six hectare lot on Sto. Niño 1st was purchased as the new campus location for the school.
Five decades later, the school was renamed San Jose Christian Colleges (SJCC). Construction of new buildings and facilities ensued. The campus grew to include new classrooms for the growing elementary, high school, college, and post-graduate student bodies. The school also includes libraries for all school levels, an audio-visual auditorium, two computer labs, offices for faculty members, medical and dental clinic, all-purpose gymnasium, canteen, and a grass-covered field for resting and playing.
San Jose Christian Colleges has been in the forefront of serving the province of Nueva Ecija through community services, and remains an institution of progressive learning and wholesome nurturing for the people of San Jose City and its surrounding areas .
